TNT Fight: Lauron inspired to work harder after ONE snub
The former OWS finalist bares that his ONE Championship contract was cancelled
MANILA, Philippines — Dropped from the ONE Championship roster, Anacleto “LA” Lauron has found a new home under TNT Fight.
The 32-year-old former ONE Warrior Series Philippines finalist was sensational in his unanimous decision victory over Richard Lachicaat TNT Kickboxing 2 last weekend at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, ending nearly a year of looking for answers in the process.
“Importante sa akin ‘tong panalo na ‘to kasi one year akong nag-training para dito. Inexpect kong may labang ibibigay sa akin sa ONE Championship. Tinanggal ‘yung kontrata,” Lauron said.
It was the first time for the fighter out of Drex Zamboanga’s T-Rex MMA to compete under TNT Fight’s unique kickboxing rule set, and did well enough to score a lopsided decision.
Lauron said being left out by the Asian-based ONE banner pushed him to work even harder and prove that he belongs among high-level prospects in the world of MMA.
“It is what it is, eh. Siguro, nakikita ng ONE na hindi pa ako karapat-dapat sa roster nila so maybe I will try to work harder pa para maging karapat-dapat para sa ONE roster,” he said.
Lauron lost in his only fight under ONE to Jhanlo Mark Sangiao in late 2022.
As he awaits what’s next, Lauron said he is prepared to again go out of his comfort zone in order to prove a point and discover what else he is capable of inside the ring.
“Sabi ko nga, walang taong hindi natututo. Pag gusto mong matutunan ang isang bagay, you have to keep doing it. You have to go out of our comfort zone,” he said.
